Naming Conventions
Political Parties
The trouble with naming political parties is that it is often necessary to refer to their state branches and the branches themselves not having a consistent naming structure.
The Naming convention for Political Parties on this wiki are as follows:
- The basic name of the party is used for the federal branch (ie Australian Labor Party, Liberal Party, Australian Greens) or to describe which party someone belongs to (ie Anna Bligh is part of the Australian Labor Party
- State branches are the name of the party (ie Australian Labor Party (NSW) or Australian Labor Party (Vic)). After a favorable policy decition a donation was made to Anna Bligh's Australian Labor Party (Qld)
- State abbreviations are capitalised when they are acronyms (ie NSW) and only have a capical first letter when they are abbreviated (ie Tas)
Businesses
Where possible, Businesses are referred to by their publicly known name. For example, Gunns Limited but you would refer to Toll Holdings not Toll Holdings Pty Ltd
Basic Editing
To be able to edit an entry you must first register. Anyone with a valid email address can register.
Once you've registered, simply click on the "edit" tab at the top of the article and edit accordingly. If, for example you notice a spelling mistake, or can add some information on a particular topic, just hit the "edit" tab and edit away.
Creating a page
As you read through the Lobbyocracy.org wiki you will occasionally notice a link that is red. This means that a page has not been created for this word. To create a page simply click on the link which will launch a new page for you to populate. Don't worry if you can't give a complete account or article, what ever you can contribute is welcome. We also encourage you to reference using hyper links.
If you mention an organisation, event or something else that there might be an article on or should be an article on then add a 'wiki link' which is easily done using the "Quicklinks" ar the top of the page.
If a link to the topic you want to create a page on does not exist you can create a page by:
- Edit ANY Wiki Page
- Somewhere at the top of the page, add the name of the page you want to create in using the "wiki links"
- Hit Preview
- Click on the link this has now created in the preview pane
You will be editing the page you wanted to create. The page that you changed to create this page was not saved or updated - so it does not need to be modified or repaired. This method allows you to see if the page already exists. If the link is blue then the page already exists and you can edit it, however if it is red then you will be creating a new page.
